The children of Saandhwanam are the angels of God. Malice towards none, innocent, with a loving and grateful heart - what they require is unconditional love, which they get at Saandhwanam. Education and healthcare of the children are given prime importance. Special efforts are made to make the children proficient in some skill to facilitate their total integration back into the main stream of the society.

Saandhwanam houses about 68 children (boys & girls) ranging in age from 10 days to 25 years. All the children above the age of five attend a proper school. A teacher in the facility ensures that the children take their lessons seriously and follow up their classes at the school with assignments and exams.

Currently Saandhwanam operates two separate facilites for the children:

• One in Aluva for children (boys & girls) aged between 1.5 and 10 years and
• Second one in Elamakkara for girls aged between 10 and 25 years of age;
