Though the core activity of the society was to look after the mentally challenged, the scope of the society's activities was later extended to cover the blind, the disabled, the paralyzed, the orphaned / abandoned children, the old and the poor. Routine medical check-up is done to keep the mental status of the inmates under scrutiny.
Saandhwanam's motto is to turn no one away. Now the organisation is trying to address the needs of the elders in the society too. The elderly inmates include those rejected by their families or those who are metally challenged and can no longer take care of themselves.
At present, Saandhwanam supports 60 elderly inmates in wo separate facilities:
Most of the inmates require physical assistance and suffer from disabilities - both mental and physical.
